Just when you thought this off season couldn't get an more interesting, Nascar.com breaks the news of GEM signing A.J Allmendinger to run the #19 in 2009.
Some might say Red Bull Racing jumped the gun in letting Allmendinger walk in mid-season. Others would say Sadler never got the equipment that teammate Kasey Kahne had at his disposal. Either way, both drivers will have to prove their worth for different teams in 2009.
I'm on the fence with this move. While I do think "The Dinger" deserves another shot at a full-time ride, I don't think Elliot Sadler should have been the one to give up his seat.
If Petty Enterprises survives in some capacity and Kyle Petty is serious about joining the Rolex Series full-time, I could see Sadler taking over the #43 car.
Sadler is just another victim of the "What have you done for me lately" nature of the sport. Business is business, and hopefully Sadler will be back in business soon.

Countdown to the Rolex 24
Hey Race Fans,
While NASCAR is slashing costs left and right, cancelling the Preseason Thunder (what about sponsor Jackson Hewitt? I guess they weren't paying enough.) this upcoming January, the Rolex Series is stronger than ever.
Take a look at the ever-growing list of entries for 2009 Roar Before the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Check out daytona24hr.com for some great images of last season's race. I can't wait for the '09 race.
